KraftMaid Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
We install KraftMaid-compatible paver driveways in Fort Lauderdale for $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, paver style, and how much of the existing base can be salvaged. Most paver driveway failures aren’t the pavers themselves – they’re the sand bed and gravel base underneath, which South Florida’s rainy season and sandy soil break down faster than people expect. Homeowners usually call us after the third or fourth pavers starts rocking underfoot, or when a section of the driveway sinks two inches after a heavy summer storm and suddenly the car scrapes on the way in.

Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

Here’s the thing about pavers and driveway work: KraftMaid doesn’t manufacture pavers or paving systems. KraftMaid is a cabinet and millwork brand, and when homeowners reference “KraftMaid driveway & pavers,” they’re almost always describing a paver driveway installed as part of a larger exterior project where KraftMaid products were used elsewhere on the property. That’s an important distinction, because the paver portion of the project was sourced from hardscape manufacturers like Belgard or Unilock, which we draw from as trade-recognized brands. We also stock compatible parts and materials for Cambria, Silestone, and Kohler installations.
The compatibility question that actually matters is the paver manufacturer, size, and profile. Fort Lauderdale homes built or renovated in the last 10 years most commonly use 60mm interlocking concrete pavers in a herringbone or running bond pattern. You can identify yours by measuring the thickness at the edge: if it’s roughly 2⅜ inches, that’s a 60mm paver. In tumbled or antiqued finishes, the thickness can vary by an eighth inch, which is normal and accounted for in the sand setting bed.

Signs Your KraftMaid Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rock or tilt under foot or tire. The sand joints between pavers have washed out, leaving nothing to lock them laterally. This is the earliest warning sign in Fort Lauderdale’s wet season, when heavy rain saturates the sand bed and carries it away through any gap in the edge restraint.
- Low spots hold standing water for more than a few hours after rain. A properly graded paver driveway drains fast. Standing water means the gravel base has settled unevenly, often because the original installer skimped on compaction or used a base too thin for Broward County’s sandy-loam soil. Puddling accelerates sand erosion and creates a negative loop.
- Edge pavers are creeping outward or gaping. The plastic or aluminum edge restraint wasn’t spiked deep enough, or it was never installed at the outer perimeter. Once edges release, the entire field loses tension and pavers start migrating. You’ll notice the driveway looks wider at the bottom than at the garage apron.
- Weeds or ant mounds colonize the joints. Florida’s fire ants love loose paver joints. If you’re seeing repeated ant activity between pavers, the polymeric sand has failed and been replaced with loose sand or plain beach sand, which has no binding agent and won’t hold.
- A whitish haze covers the pavers, or the color looks faded and chalky. Efflorescence, the white mineral haze, is common in coastal air. It’s cosmetic, but paired with fading it usually means the original sealer has worn off after 3 – 5 years of UV exposure. The pavers themselves are often still structurally sound; the surface protection is gone.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full paver driveway replacement in Fort Lauderdale runs $7,000 – $18,000. A two-car driveway of roughly 400 – 600 square feet with standard Belgard or Unilock pavers typically lands between $9,000 and $14,000 installed. Smaller driveways or jobs where we can salvage the existing base and re-set pavers come in lower; projects with heavy paver styles, accent borders, or a full base excavation go higher. Every quote from Trevor Nash includes the removal of old materials, compaction of the sub-base, installation of a new compacted gravel base, setting bed, pavers, edge restraint, polymeric sand, and a written 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the driveway settles, shifts, or sand washes out within that year, we come back and fix it at no charge, in writing, every time.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely pull up a single rocking paver, add sand, and tamp it back into place. That’s a Saturday-morning fix and it works fine for isolated problems. What you shouldn’t do is tear out a settled section and try to rebuild the base yourself. The failure mode in Fort Lauderdale is almost always underground – compaction, drainage, edge restraint – and those problems don’t solve themselves by re-leveling the surface. You’ll spend a weekend and $300 on bags of sand and gravel, and six months later the same low spot comes back because the underlying base was never compacted to spec. Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs – then we’ll get it done. Call (754) 551-2922 for an honest assessment.
FAQs

A properly installed concrete paver driveway lasts 25 – 40 years, even in Fort Lauderdale’s heat and rain. The pavers themselves rarely fail: what fails is the base, and that’s an installation problem, not a product problem. If your driveway is failing at the 8 – 10 year mark, the original base was underbuilt or the drainage was wrong from day one.
Yes, when the damage is localized, we can spot-repair a settled section by lifting the pavers in that area, re-compacting or replacing the base underneath, and re-setting them to match the surrounding grade. The repair is covered by the same 365-Day Done Right Promise as a full install. Call (754) 551-2922 and we’ll tell you whether a patch repair makes sense or whether the base failure is wider than it looks.
A single-car driveway replacement typically takes 2 – 3 working days from tear-out to final compaction and sanding. A larger two-car or U-shaped driveway with accent borders can take 4 – 5 days. We give you a written arrival window before we start, and the written price we give you up front is the price on the invoice, no change orders after the base is open. Call (754) 551-2922 for a free estimate.
We source pavers from Belgard and Unilock through our local Fort Lauderdale distributors, which means standard colors and profiles are typically available within a few days of your estimate. If you have an existing paver and need an exact match, we’ll take a sample from your driveway and confirm the manufacturer and color lot before writing your quote. Call (754) 551-2922 to get the process started.
