Boral Fence Installation: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Boral fence installation in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 depending on lineal footage, gate hardware, and how much of the old fence has to come out first. Most people discover they need us when a post wobbles after a storm or a panel cracks at the rail connection and they realize the fence is no longer keeping anything in or out. We stock Boral-compatible posts, rails, and mounting hardware on our trucks, which means the first visit usually ends with a written number for the whole job, not a diagnostic fee and a “we’ll get back to you.”

Boral fencing is a different animal from wood or vinyl. It’s a composite made from fly ash and polymer, which is exactly why it survives South Florida humidity better than cedar ever could. But when an owner tries to fix it with parts from a big-box store, the fit is never right. The rail brackets don’t line up. The post sleeves don’t seat. And six months later, the same panel is sagging again. That’s the moment people call us, and we start by matching the actual Boral specs rather than improvising.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

A whole-home remodel with the living, dining and kitchen areas opened up

Boral fencing has been manufactured under a few different names over the years, which causes real confusion at the hardware store. The original Boral Lynx and Boral Select lines carried the Boral name on the post caps. After the fence division was sold, some of the same profiles kept selling under the Everlast and Barrette Outdoor Living labels with the same composite formulation. The good news is the dimensions are consistent across those lines: standard 8-foot panels, 5-inch by 5-inch hollow posts, and rails that slide into pre-routed pockets on the post. If your fence was built in the last 15 years and the panels snap into place rather than fastening with visible screws, you’re almost certainly dealing with the Boral/Everlast system.

The OEM-vs-aftermarket question comes up on every job. We install genuine Boral-spec posts and rails when they’re available, because the aftermarket post sleeves we’ve seen locally run a few hundredths of an inch off on the inner channel. That doesn’t sound like much, but in Fort Lauderdale’s wet-dry heat cycle, a slightly loose post sleeve is how you get a fence that leans after the first tropical storm. Where the aftermarket parts are genuinely fine is rail brackets, post caps, and gate hinges. Those have no rubber seals or channel tolerances that matter, and we’ll quote them when the price difference makes sense.

One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: Boral post spacing is 8 feet on center, not 6 feet like most wood privacy fences. If a previous repair spliced in a treated wood post to save money, the whole section is now fighting itself. We see that repair all the time in older Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods, almost always from a hurried fix after a storm. The right fix is pulling that wood post out entirely and resetting a proper Boral post in concrete.

Signs Your Boral Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Leaning posts after a rain (not a storm). Boral posts are hollow composite sleeves set over a steel or wood core. When the core wasn’t set deep enough in concrete, soft Florida soil lets the whole assembly tilt. The fix is digging out the old footing and re-setting the post at the right depth, usually 24 – 30 inches in Broward County.
  • Panels sagging at the rail connection. The rails sit in routed pockets in the post. When water and grit wear those pockets wider, the rail end drops and the panel tilts. We fix this with proper Boral-spec rail brackets instead of trying to shim it.
  • Cracked panels near the bottom rail. Composite expands and contracts more than people expect in Fort Lauderdale’s heat. A panel that was installed tight against the post with no relief gap cracks at the stress points. You’ll see hairline splits at the rail line first.
  • Gate dragging or swinging on its own. Almost always a hinge pull-out problem, not a gate problem. The factory hinges are fine, but when they’re screwed into an unsupported hollow post section, the screws wallow out. We add a backing plate or rebuild the post corner.
  • White or gray chalky film on the surface. This is oxidation, not failure, but if the UV coating has fully degraded, the panels are closer to the end of their life than the beginning. Panels that are chalky but sound can be refinished; panels that are chalky and brittle need replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled family room with new windows and a window seat

In Fort Lauderdale, a typical Boral fence installation runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a full section replacement or new install on a standard residential lot. On the lower end, you’re looking at a single run of 40 – 60 linear feet with one gate, straight lines, and good access. On the upper end, you’re dealing with 100+ feet, multiple gates, tree roots that have to be hand-dug around, or an old concrete footing every 8 feet that has to be broken out before new posts can go in.

Everything we quote includes the removal and disposal of the old section, concrete for every post, the Boral-compatible posts, rails, panels, and hardware, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. That means if a post shifts or a panel cracks inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. You get the written price before any work starts, and the number on day one is the number on the invoice. Trevor Nash has been quoting it that way since his days running crews from Las Olas Boulevard to the western suburbs, and the policy never changes: write the number down, stand behind it.

DIY or Call Us?

Boral fence installation is not like hanging a wood fence. The panels are heavy, the post sleeves have to drop over a core at the right height, and the rail pockets are unforgiving if you’re off by half an inch. That said, there are things an owner can safely check before picking up the phone: walk the line and mark every post that moves when you push it, check whether the gate still clears the ground by an inch, and take photos of any cracked panels with the post in frame so we can see the spacing.

What goes wrong with DIY on Boral specifically is cutting panels to fit a shorter run. Boral composite cuts cleanly with a carbide blade, but the cut end loses the factory seal, and in Fort Lauderdale humidity, that open edge wicks moisture and swells. We seal every field cut. It’s a small step that keeps the panel from delaminating two years later. If you’ve got a failing Boral fence, call (754) 551-2922 and tell us what you’re seeing. We’ll give you a straight answer about whether it’s a repair or a replacement, and what it costs either way.
