Ameristar Fence Installation: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
Ameristar fence installation in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a standard residential section, depending on panel size, gate count, and whether we’re replacing failed posts or the whole run. We stock Ameristar-compatible posts, panels, and gate hardware on the truck, so most repairs or replacements can be scheduled within days, not weeks. Most owners figure out something’s wrong when a gate starts dragging, a panel leans after a storm, or the powder coat starts blistering near the bottom rail where salt air does its worst.

Before we get into specifics, one note: Penhallow Remodeling Fort Lauderdale is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Ameristar, but we’ve installed their products and matched their hardware long enough to know which post goes with which panel, and where corners get cut.
Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar makes a few distinct lines, and the hardware is not always interchangeable. The ones we work with most in Fort Lauderdale are the Montage, Echelon, and Classic series. Montage uses a pressed-spear top and a specific post cap that won’t seat properly on an Echelon post, even if the outside dimensions look close. Echelon panels are heavier gauge and need a post with more wall thickness; trying to reuse older Classic posts under Echelon panels is a common mistake we’ve corrected after other contractors walked away.
To identify what you have, look for the product label on the inside of a gate frame or along the bottom rail. If the label’s gone (sun and salt air eat them fast), measure the rail thickness. Montage rails run 1-3/8″ square, Echelon runs 1-5/8″, and Classic panel rails can be either, so the post cap style is your second tell. For Ameristar specifically, we recommend OEM posts and gate frames. Aftermarket post caps and rail brackets exist and can save a few hundred dollars on a full run, but the tolerances matter more on Ameristar than on other manufacturers we see, and a loose cap becomes a squeak, then a rust point, inside a year. If you’re swapping an entire section, OEM is the safer call. If it’s a single damaged gate hinge, a quality aftermarket equivalent is usually fine, and we’ll tell you when it isn’t.

Signs Your Ameristar Fence Installation Is Failing
Ameristar fence systems fail in predictable ways down here. Here’s what owners in Fort Lauderdale call us about most:
- Gate sag that worsens after rain. The hinge post was set in soil that’s holding water. In Fort Lauderdale’s wet season, even a properly set post can shift if the bottom wasn’t backfilled with the right material. The hinge side pulls away from the gate, and the latch stops lining up.
- White or chalky powder coat, especially near the bottom rail. Salt air is the obvious culprit near the beaches, but lawn irrigation hitting the panels causes more failures than ocean breeze. Once the coating breaks down, rust follows, and cosmetic oxidation becomes structural panel thinning within two to three years if untreated.
- Loose or missing post caps. This sounds minor, but uncovered posts become standing columns of water in the rainy season. The water sits inside, rusts from the inside out, and the post fails at the concrete line.
- Rattling panels during wind gusts. The panel brackets or rail sleeves have loosened. On Ameristar’s older Classic series, the bracket design was thinner and tends to stretch around the mounting bolts over time. The panel stays in place but worries you every time a summer storm rolls through.
- Concrete cracked around a post base. That’s a sure sign of a post leaning outward under wind load or shifting soil. If left too long, the post walks out past the point where re-setting is possible, and the whole section has to come out.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Lauderdale, a single failed post reset or replacement runs $500 – $1,200. A full residential run with new panels, posts, and a gate typically lands between $3,500 and $9,000. What moves the number up or down: linear footage, gate width and hardware, whether we’re reusing any existing posts, and the condition of the existing concrete work around the posts.
Every quote we write includes the cost of the parts, the labor, the haul-away of the failed material, and the concrete work. If the gate hangs square and swings level and then doesn’t six months later, that’s what our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers. It’s a written guarantee, not a verbal one. We’ll come back and correct the work at no charge, and we put that in writing before the first post is set.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check. Look at the post caps. Look at the concrete around the posts. Look at whether the gate latch still lines up when the gate is open versus closed. Those observations help you describe the problem when you call.
The work itself is where Ameristar failure gets dangerous to DIY. These panels are heavier than most homeowners expect; a single 6-foot Echelon panel can run 90 pounds. Posts that need re-setting involve digging near utility lines, and every municipality in Broward County has slightly different depth requirements. We know the Fort Lauderdale permitting rules and the wind-load code for fences. But if you’ve already got a leaning post and a gate that won’t latch, the honest advice is to call us at (754) 551-2922 before the top rail twists under its own weight. We’ll bring an actual post and the right bracket for your Ameristar series, not guess from a blurry photo.
FAQs

Ameristar fencing in Fort Lauderdale lasts 20 to 30 years with decent drainage and no sprinkler spray hitting the panels, but the gate hardware – hinges, latches, spring carts – typically needs attention around the 10-to-12-year mark because of salt air and constant use. If your panels are good but the gate sags, call us at (754) 551-2922 for an exact fix, not a full replacement quote.
A leaning post can often be re-set rather than replaced if the twist is minor and the post itself hasn’t corroded at the base. We excavate around the footing, straighten the post, and re-pour the concrete; but if the post has rusted through at the concrete line, a new post is the only safe fix. We’ll tell you which path you’re on before any digging starts.
A single post reset takes about half a day, and a full residential section – posts, panels, and gate – usually runs one to two working days depending on access and weather. Fort Lauderdale’s afternoon showers push more fence jobs to the morning than any other factor, so we schedule accordingly and show up in the window we gave you.
We stock Ameristar-compatible posts, panels, brackets, caps, and gate hardware in our Fort Lauderdale inventory, so most jobs don’t require waiting on a manufacturer shipment. If your series needs a specialized part we don’t carry, we’ll source it and give you a written timeline before any money changes hands. Call (754) 551-2922 for a free estimate and a straight answer on what’s involved.
If your Ameristar fence is leaning, dragging, or showing rust through the powder coat, call Penhallow Remodeling Fort Lauderdale at (754) 551-2922. We’ll give you a written price up front, and if the work fails inside the 365-day guarantee, we’ll come back and correct it – no service call, no re-inspection fee, no argument.
