Bufftech Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Bufftech driveway and paver parts in Fort Lauderdale run $45 – $180 for most replacement components, with full installed repairs typically landing between $350 and $1,400 depending on the extent of the damage and how much of the base layer needs rework. We stock the common Bufftech replacement pieces on the truck and can usually get specialty items within three business days. Most homeowners figure out something’s wrong the same way: a paver shifts underfoot after a heavy rain, a corner piece cracks along the driveway edge, or a section of the border starts pulling away from the rest of the run.

We’re an independent Fort Lauderdale contractor, not a Bufftech dealer or affiliate. What that means for you is straightforward: we work with Bufftech’s interlocking concrete paver systems every month, we know which pieces match which series, and we’ll give you a written price before we touch anything on your driveway.

Which Bufftech Models This Applies To

Bufftech makes paver and wall systems in several distinct product lines, and the part numbers are not interchangeable across all of them. The three you’re most likely to have in a Fort Lauderdale driveway are the Holland Stone series, the Modular Cobble series, and the larger Herringbone Plank pavers. Each uses different joint spacing and thickness specs, so a replacement piece from the wrong line won’t sit flush, no matter how it looks at a glance.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: Bufftech changed the chamfer profile (the slight bevel on the top edge) on several paver lines about eight years ago. An older paver next to a new one will look close enough from the driveway curb, but you’ll feel the difference walking barefoot, and water will pool differently at the joints. We match the chamfer, not just the dimensions. To identify what you have, look on the underside of a loose paver for a stamped mold number, or measure the piece: Holland Stones run 60mm thick, Modular Cobbles run 80mm in driveway applications. If you can’t find a stamp, take a photo from above and below and text it to us before we come out. It saves a trip.

As for OEM versus aftermarket: Bufftech’s original parts are widely available in South Florida through regional landscape distributors, and we default to OEM when we can get it. There are quality aftermarket equivalents for the standard Holland Stone size, but we’ve seen enough color-match issues with cheaper pieces in the intense Fort Lauderdale sun that we’ll only use them if you approve the color variance in person first.

Signs Your Bufftech Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • A single paver rocks or tilts when you step on it. This usually means the sand bedding underneath has washed out. In Fort Lauderdale, our rainy season does this faster than almost anything else. The paver itself is rarely broken; the base needs to be re-set and re-compacted.
  • Cracks running through multiple pavers in a straight line. This is almost always a base failure, not a paver failure. The soil underneath shifted or wasn’t compacted properly when the driveway was built, and the pavers are cracking because they’re flexing. Replacing one cracked paver without fixing the base means you’ll replace it again after the next wet season.
  • The border or edge restraint is pulling away from the lawn or curb. Bufftech driveways rely on edge restraints (plastic or concrete) to lock the field in place. When the restraint fails, the whole edge starts to migrate outward, and you’ll see a widening gap along the grass line. Left alone, this eventually lets the outer pavers loosen and fall out.
  • Joint sand is gone and weeds or ants are moving in. Every heavy downpour washes a little sand from between pavers. When enough is gone, the pavers start grinding against each other and their edges chip. Weeds and ant colonies move into the voids. This is a maintenance issue until it isn’t: lose too much joint sand and you start seeing the rocking in the first sign.
  • Color is bleached out or the surface is flaking in patches. Fort Lauderdale UV exposure is brutal on concrete products. Bufftech pavers are manufactured to hold color well, but after 15-plus years of direct sun, some surface spalling (flaking) is common, especially on darker colors. It’s cosmetic at first, but spalling accelerates once water gets into the pores.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A whole-home remodel with the living, dining and kitchen areas opened up

For Fort Lauderdale driveways, here’s what Bufftech paver repair realistically costs, installed:

  • Single paver replacement (including re-bedding the sand underneath): $180 – $350
  • Section repair up to 50 square feet (reset base, replace broken pieces, new joint sand): $650 – $1,200
  • Edge restraint repair per linear foot: $18 – $45
  • Full driveway re-sanding and joint stabilization: $600 – $1,400 depending on square footage

The range comes down to three things: how much of the base needs recompacting, whether we’re matching old pavers with new ones (color and chamfer matching takes more care), and how many pieces actually need replacing versus just re-setting. You’ll see a written line-item price before any work starts: parts, labor, sand, disposal, everything. No number that changes once we’re in the job. And the work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we reset or replaced fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Pavers are one of the few home materials where a careful DIY repair is genuinely possible, and we’ll tell you that straight. If one paver is rocking, you can pull it out, add a little bedding sand, and set it back. If a border piece is loose, you can sometimes tap it back into place. Where DIY goes wrong in Fort Lauderdale is drainage: the right repair usually involves scraping out old joint sand, checking the bedding depth, and re-leveling the whole surrounding area so water flows away from your house. Get that wrong and you’ve turned a $300 repair into a $3,000 re-level job after the next hurricane season. Also, carry a full pallet of pavers incorrectly and you’ll learn what a compressed disc feels like. If the job involves more than two or three loose pieces, or you see cracks running through multiple pavers, call us at (754) 551-2922. We’ll give you a straight answer on what you’re dealing with before we quote you a dollar.

When to Stop Patching and Start Over

Sometimes the right answer is not replacing five more pavers. If your Bufftech driveway has multiple cracked sections, the edges have wandered in three directions at once, and we’re finding base failure in more than a third of the surface, you’re at the point where a patch job just puts off the inevitable. A full paver driveway installation in Fort Lauderdale runs $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, paver line, and how much excavation and base work the site needs. That’s a big number, and we won’t push you toward it if a $900 repair honestly holds. But we’ll show you what we found in plain terms, with photos, and let you decide. Trevor Nash has been running crews in South Florida long enough to know that a homeowner who sees the problem in the ground trusts the fix. Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs – then we’ll get it done.
