Belgard Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
If your Belgard paver driveway is sinking, cracking, or showing gaps between stones, we can match your existing product and install the repair for $7,000 – $18,000 for a full driveway, with smaller repair sections starting around $1,200 – $3,500 depending on square footage and the condition of the base underneath. Most Fort Lauderdale homeowners discover the problem after a summer of daily downpours: pavers shift, sand washes out, and one edge of the driveway starts to dip. Penhallow Remodeling Fort Lauderdale stocks Belgard-compatible pavers and can match most active Belgard lines within a week.

We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Belgard. You’ll get the same product specifications without a dealer markup, and installation comes with our written price guarantee. If you already know the part number, call (754) 551-2922 and we’ll confirm availability before you hang up.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard’s driveway paver lines break into three families, and each takes a different replacement approach. The Cambridge Cobble series (often called the “3-piece system”) includes a 6×6, 6×9, and 6×12 rectangle that interlock. The Dublin Cobble series uses a flagstone-like irregular shape with more size variation. The Urbana Stone line is a larger modular slab look that holds fewer joints and drains differently.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people miss: Belgard changes color lot numbers every few years. A “Sierra Granite” paver bought in 2021 will not perfectly match a “Sierra Granite” paver manufactured in 2025. The aggregate sourcing shifts, even when the color name doesn’t. If your driveway is older than three years, we recommend pulling a sample paver from an inconspicuous edge and matching it physically, not by label. We do this by hand in Fort Lauderdale before ordering.
For the OEM-vs-aftermarket question: several Florida concrete plants produce dimensional equivalents to Belgard’s molding specs, and they cost 20 – 40% less. We’ve installed both. The OEM pavers hold color longer under Florida UV, but an aftermarket equivalent from a plant in Medley or Pompano Beach often matches a five-year-old driveway better than a fresh Belgard lot. We’ll show you samples of both and price them separately so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.

Signs Your Belgard Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Rutting or tire-track dips. This is almost never the paver’s fault. Florida’s sandy subsoil shifts under repeated vehicle weight, and a base that wasn’t compacted to 98% density will settle into channels under the wheels. We see this most often in Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods like Victoria Park and Rio Vista, where older driveways were laid over unexcavated root systems.
- Joint sand washing out after every rain. Fort Lauderdale gets roughly 60 inches of rain a year, and if the paver joints aren’t sealed or the sand wasn’t polymeric, each storm pulls a little more material out. You’ll notice the sand pooling at the street edge or forming small deltas near your garage door.
- Edge creep or spreading. The outer row of pavers starts to lean outward, and a half-inch gap appears where the driveway meets the lawn or curb. That means the edge restraint (usually a plastic or aluminum paver edge) has failed or was never installed deep enough.
- Chipped corners or surface spalling. Especially on older Belgard units in direct afternoon sun. Florida’s heat cycles expand the concrete surface faster than the core, and eventually micro-cracks let in moisture. After enough cycles, the surface flakes off in dime-sized pieces.
- Low spots that hold water for 24+ hours. If puddles linger after a storm passes, the pitch of the bed has failed. Water sitting on pavers accelerates efflorescence (the white chalky deposit) and, over time, softens the sand base beneath the low point, making the dip worse each year.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Lauderdale, a full paver driveway installation runs $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, paver line, base condition, and site access. If you’re only replacing a failed section, a typical repair ranges from $1,200 – $3,500, which includes removing the damaged pavers, re-grading and compacting the base, resetting the pavers, and sweeping in new polymeric sand. If the base itself has failed (we’ll know because the pavers pull up with crushed material attached), the repair climbs toward $4,000 – $6,000 for a larger section because we have to excavate and rebuild the foundation before resetting stone.
You get a written price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t change when we open up the base unless you approve a written change order first. Every repair includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No re-inspection fee, no service call fee.
DIY or Call Us?
Pavers aren’t dangerous to work with the way tension springs or wiring are, so a careful homeowner can absolutely pull up a cracked paver and reset it as a weekend project. What we’d caution against is trying to rebuild a settled area yourself. The skill is in the base. If you don’t re-compact the subgrade and bedding layer correctly, you’ll have the same dip again in 18 months, and you’ll have spent two weekends doing it. Replacing a single paver? Go for it. Rebuilding a 200-square-foot section with base work? That’s what our crew does every week.

FAQs

A properly installed Belgard paver driveway lasts 25 to 40 years in Fort Lauderdale, though the color will fade and the surface will show wear after roughly 15 to 20 years. The weak point is never the paver; it’s the base and edge restraint beneath it. A paver over an unstable base fails in five to ten years, while the same paver over a compacted, properly graded base will outlast the mortgage. If your driveway is under ten years old and showing dips or spreading, that’s almost always a base problem, not a paver problem.

Yes, individual pavers and small sections can absolutely be repaired without touching the rest of the driveway. We can match your line and color, pull the damaged stones, reset the base beneath them, and reinstall so the repair blends in from a standing height. The only time we recommend full replacement is when the base has failed across most of the driveway, or when the original pavers are so faded that no new stone will match within reason. Most Fort Lauderdale driveways we see fall into the “repairable” category.

A single-paver replacement takes under an hour on site, and a section repair of 100 to 300 square feet typically takes one to two days, including base prep and joint sanding. Full driveway replacement runs four to seven days depending on access and whether we’re hauling away the old material. We’ll give you a defined arrival window before we start, and the day-one schedule is the schedule we keep.

We keep common Belgard-compatible colors and sizes on hand for repair jobs, and we can order any active Belgard line from local Florida distributors within a week. Because Penhallow Remodeling Fort Lauderdale also works with KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria quartz, and Silestone surfaces, we already maintain relationships with the regional material suppliers that service Broward County, which means we can source Belgard pavers without the retail delays a homeowner faces ordering direct. If you need an exact color match on an older driveway, we’ll pull a sample and match it physically before we place your order.
Call (754) 551-2922 with your paver’s color name or a photo, and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
