Dvele Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
Dvele driveway and paver systems in Fort Lauderdale typically cost between $7,000 and $18,000 to replace or install, depending on square footage, paver material, and whether the existing base needs rebuilding. We stock Dvele-compatible paver options and can usually start a driveway or paver assessment within a few days of your call to (754) 551-2922. Most owners discover a problem after a heavy summer downpour, when water pools in a new spot or a paver sinks below the surrounding grade. Sometimes it’s a cracked edge piece along the garage apron. Other times, the sand-filled joints have washed out completely and the pavers have started to shift under car tires.

We’re an independent remodeling and hardscape contractor in Fort Lauderdale, not affiliated with Dvele, but we’ve worked on enough Dvele-spec homes to know how their driveway systems are put together.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele homes built since roughly 2018 use consistent exterior hardscape specifications across their model lines, including the DveleIQ series and custom builds with paver driveways, walkways, and entry landings. The pavers themselves are typically a standard 60mm or 80mm concrete paver from manufacturers like Belgard or Unilock, but the installation method matters more than the brand stamped on the paver. Dvele’s spec calls for a compacted aggregate base, a geotextile fabric layer in most South Florida applications, and a specific sand bedding depth to account for our water table and seasonal ground movement.
If you’re trying to match a replacement paver, skip the paperwork hunt and measure the paver itself. A 4×8 paver (actually 3⅞ x 7⅞ inches) is the most common size on Dvele driveways in Fort Lauderdale, but we’ve also seen 6×9 pavers on larger custom builds. The color name is stamped on the bottom edge of most Belgard pavers, which makes matching easier. If you can’t find it, we can pull a sample from an inconspicuous corner and match it. For the base layer, Dvele’s original installs sometimes used a thinner aggregate depth than what we now recommend for Fort Lauderdale. That’s the root cause of a lot of the settling we see, not the paver itself.

Signs Your Dvele Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
Driveways fail slowly, then all at once. Here’s what we see before a full replacement is needed:
- Pavers rocking underfoot or under tire. This usually means the sand bedding has washed out from beneath the paver. In Fort Lauderdale’s rainy season, water follows the path of least resistance, and a bad joint seal gives it a direct route under the pavers.
- Water pooling in the same spot after every rain. The paver surface has likely developed a low spot, which means the base has compacted unevenly. A leveling fix is possible if the pavers aren’t cracked.
- Sand washing out of the joints onto the driveway apron or into the street. Joint sand is the glue that locks pavers together laterally. Once it’s gone, the pavers start drifting apart under load.
- A cracked paver, especially along the edge or near the garage lip. Edge restraints on Dvele driveways sometimes get installed without enough anchoring. The paver at the very edge takes lateral pressure every time a car turns in, and it cracks before anything else does.
- Visible sinking at the driveway entrance. The area where concrete meets pavers is a classic failure point. Heavy rain and driveway slope push water directly into that transition, eroding whatever sits underneath.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway replacement in Fort Lauderdale runs $7,000 to $18,000. A partial repair, like replacing a 10-by-10 section and rebuilding the base under it, can run $1,200 to $3,500 depending on how much base material we have to haul out and bring back. The spread in that full-replacement number comes down to three things: total square footage, whether we’re reusing any existing pavers, and what condition the base is in. If the original base was installed thin, we’ll quote a rebuild with an 8-inch compacted aggregate layer instead of the 4-to-6 inches you sometimes see. That’s a big price driver, and it’s exactly why we don’t quote driveways over the phone without looking at them first.
Every estimate is written, not verbal, and it includes the full scope: removal, base prep, paver cost, edge restraints, joint sand, and cleanup. The number you see on the quote is the number on the invoice. If something fails inside one year, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means we come back and fix it at no charge. In writing, on every project.
DIY or Call Us?
For a driveway or paver system, the honest answer is that most of it is beyond a DIY fix, and here’s why. Replacing one cracked paver is doable if the base under it is intact. You can pry the paver out with a couple of flat bars, clean the edges, drop a new one in, and sweep joint sand over it. What you can’t do yourself is diagnose whether the base under that paver is the actual problem. If the base has failed, you’ll replace the paver and watch it crack again within six months. That’s the part most YouTube videos skip.
Lifting a sunken section without understanding why it sank is also a waste of time. Fort Lauderdale’s sandy soil and high water table mean drainage and base compaction are the real work. If you’ve got pavers rocking, sand washing out, or a sink at the driveway lip, call us. If you’ve got one cracked paver and everything around it is solid, give us a call anyway and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth our time to come out or whether you should just buy a matching paver yourself.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Fort Lauderdale, with a rebuilt compacted base and sealed joints, should last 20 to 25 years before you’re looking at another major repair. The original Dvele installs that used a thinner base layer often show settling inside the first 8 to 10 years, because our rainy season is relentless with water intrusion. Call (754) 551-2922 if you’re seeing early settling and we’ll tell you whether it’s a base problem or something simpler.
Yes, in most cases. We can lift the affected section, rebuild the aggregate base underneath, and re-lay the original pavers as long as they aren’t cracked or severely worn. The labor is similar to a new install for that section, but the paver material cost is zero. We’ll give you a written number for the repair before we start, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to repairs the same way it applies to a full replacement.
Most Fort Lauderdale driveway replacements take 3 to 5 working days from tear-out to final sand sweep, assuming no major surprises in the base. Rain can stretch that, especially in summer. We build a weather buffer into the schedule when we can, and we’ll tell you the day we expect to finish before we start. Call (754) 551-2922 and we’ll give you a straight answer on timing for your specific driveway.
We source Belgard and Unilock pavers directly through our South Florida distributors, so we can usually match a Dvele driveway paver within a few days of confirming the size and color. We don’t keep pallets of every color sitting in a Fort Lauderdale yard, but we have faster access than a homeowner walking into a supply counter. If you need an exact match, send us a photo or let us pull a sample during the estimate visit, and we’ll handle the rest.
