Construction Before & After in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Photos tell the truth faster than any pitch. On every Penhallow project, we document the condition we walked into, the work in progress, and the finished space. What you’ll see below are real Fort Lauderdale remodeling scenarios: the problems we find behind walls, the materials we use to fix them, and what the room looks like when the last piece of hardware is on and the job site is clean. Trevor Nash, Owner, stands behind every one of these transformations with a written price and the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

Kitchen Remodel with Load-Bearing Wall Removal in Victoria Park
Before
After
Before
AfterThe problem: a 1920s Victoria Park home where the kitchen was sealed off from the dining room by a load-bearing wall. Cooking meant standing alone in a hot, narrow room while everyone else sat elsewhere. We engineered a flush beam to carry the second-floor load, opened the wall, and tied the new ceiling plane together with recessed lighting on a dimmer. The cabinets are KraftMaid, the counters are Cambria quartz, and the sink is a Kohler undermount that finally has room to breathe. Written price before demolition started, and the final invoice matched the first number we gave.
Primary Bathroom Rebuild After Moisture Damage in Rio Vista
Before
After
In Rio Vista, we regularly find bathrooms where the original tile was set directly on drywall instead of cement board substrate (the moisture-resistant layer behind your tile). Florida humidity does not forgive that shortcut. This bath had swollen drywall, loose floor tile, and mold starting behind the vanity. We stripped it to the studs, replaced the compromised framing, installed cement board, waterproofed the entire shower with a sheet membrane, and rebuilt the room with a curbless shower, a Toto toilet, and Moen fixtures. The homeowner now has a bathroom that can actually handle Fort Lauderdale moisture. If any of this work fails within 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge, in writing.
Whole-Home Remodel After Stormwater Intrusion in Shady Banks

A Shady Banks homeowner called us after a summer storm pushed water through a poorly sealed exterior wall and across the living room floor. By the time we opened the wall, the damage ran deeper than the visible staining: compromised insulation, swollen baseboards, and framing that needed drying and treatment. We replaced the exterior cladding with James Hardie fiber cement siding, rebuilt the interior wall assembly, and laid new waterproof luxury vinyl plank over a leveled subfloor. The project touched three rooms and took four weeks. One written price covered the whole scope, and the homeowner never had to negotiate a change order.
Bathroom Remodel with Layout Change in Coral Ridge

The Coral Ridge original layout put the toilet next to the door, the tub against the only window, and a 36-inch vanity in a room two adults shared. We moved the toilet to the back wall, pulled the tub entirely, and built a 60-inch walk-in shower with a Moen valve, a built-in niche, and a frameless glass panel. The vanity is now 72 inches with two sinks on a Cambria quartz top. Delta faucets, Kohler sink basins, and proper blocking behind the walls so the grab bars and towel hooks actually hold. This is what a layout change does: same square footage, completely different room.
Kitchen Remodel After Termite Damage in Sailboat Bend

Fort Lauderdale’s older neighborhoods come with older wood, and older wood sometimes comes with termite history. In Sailboat Bend, a kitchen that looked fine from the outside had compromised base cabinets and a soft section of subfloor under the sink. We removed the damaged cabinetry, treated and replaced the affected framing, and rebuilt the entire kitchen with Wellborn cabinets, Silestone counters, and a Blanco sink. The homeowner got a full written report of what we found, what we replaced, and what it cost before we ordered a single cabinet. No surprises at the end, because the price was never an estimate range. It was a number.
Bathroom Access Update After Aging in Place Need in Imperial Point

The homeowners in Imperial Point wanted to stay in their house, but the tub was becoming a liability: a 17-inch step-over with nothing to hold onto. We removed the tub and built a curbless shower with a linear drain, a built-in bench, and reinforced blocking behind the walls so the grab bars and the bench carry real weight. The floor tile is a matte porcelain with a high coefficient of friction (it stays grippy when wet). The shower valve is a Moen pressure-balanced unit, which keeps water temperature steady. This is the kind of project where the result is not just a bathroom. It’s a homeowner who can keep living where they want to live.
