American Standard Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
American Standard kitchen remodeling in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and whether walls or plumbing move. We stock and install American Standard-compatible fixtures, faucets, and sinks alongside KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler and Moen trim. Most Fort Lauderdale homeowners call us after the original install starts showing its age: a faucet that drips at the base, a sink rim that has pulled away from the counter, or cabinets that no longer close square because the boxes have swollen in the humidity.

A quick note before we go further: Penhallow Remodeling Fort Lauderdale is an independent general contractor. We are not affiliated with American Standard. We install and specify their products because we have pulled enough of them apart to know what holds up in a coastal climate, and because Trevor Nash would rather put his written guarantee behind a brand that does not fight him on the warranty.
Which American Standard Models This Applies To

If your kitchen has an American Standard faucet, sink, or fixture, the first thing we do is find the model number. On faucets, it is usually stamped on a tag hanging from the supply line or printed on the escutcheon plate under the handle. On sinks, look underneath the bowl for a stamped model and date code. The model number is the difference between ordering the correct cartridge and ordering one that looks right but leaks at 40 psi.
American Standard kitchen lines break into a few families we see regularly across Fort Lauderdale homes: the Colony and Portsmouth lines on the budget side, the Pekoe and Edgewater in the middle, and the Semi-Professional and commercial-style pull-downs on the higher end. Each family uses different cartridges and different supply thread specs. A Colony cartridge will not seat correctly in a Pekoe body, even though both are ceramic disc. We keep the most common cartridges on the truck, and we order OEM for the rest. Aftermarket cartridges are fine for many models, but on the pull-downs with the magnetic docking spray head, we specify OEM. The aftermarket magnets are weaker, and the head droops within a year. In a kitchen that gets used three times a day, that droop becomes a drip, and the drip becomes a cabinet top that swells.

Signs Your American Standard Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Faucet drips from the spout after the handle is off. The ceramic disc cartridge has worn or a bit of sediment from older Fort Lauderdale supply lines has scored the disc. A new cartridge fixes it, but if the scoring is deep, the body is done too.
- Water pools at the base of the faucet around the deck plate. The o-rings under the deck have flattened from heat cycling. Fort Lauderdale’s hard water accelerates this, and the fix means pulling the faucet, not just tightening the nut underneath.
- Sink rim has visible caulk cracks or a soft spot around the edge. The sink has shifted because the original installer used latex caulk instead of 100% silicone. Water has been wicking into the countertop substrate (the layer under the laminate or stone) for months.
- Lower cabinets smell musty or the doors no longer close flush. A slow sink or faucet leak has been soaking the cabinet boxes. MDF and particleboard swell in Florida humidity, and once the box is swollen, the right fix is cabinet replacement, not a door adjustment.
- Spray head gets stuck or the stream pattern is weak. The diverter inside the spray head has mineral buildup. Sometimes a vinegar soak clears it. More often, on Fort Lauderdale water, the check valve is shot and the head needs replacement.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full American Standard-compatible kitchen remodel in Fort Lauderdale runs $14,000 – $45,000. Here is what moves the number: cabinet line is the biggest swing, with stock KraftMaid boxes on the low end and custom Wellborn on the high end. Countertop material matters next: laminate runs roughly $2,000 – $6,500, Silestone or Caesarstone quartz sits in the middle, and Cambria carries its own lifetime warranty alongside our written one. Moving plumbing or gas lines adds cost, as does opening walls to fix old storm damage or re-flashing windows.
Every number we hand you is a written price before work starts. Not a range you have to squint at. The written number. Your invoice matches it, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work in writing. If something fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That includes a free second visit, no service call fee, no re-inspection fee.

You can check a few things safely before calling. Look under the sink for the model tag. Turn the faucet on and watch exactly where the water comes from. Take a picture. That saves us a trip if the fix is a cartridge we already keep on the truck.
What we would not do ourselves without proper training: anything involving the supply shutoffs on older Fort Lauderdale homes, and any cabinet removal near a gas line or electrical run. The shutoff valves on a 1980s condo can shear off at the wall when you try to close them, and then you have a live water line in a cabinet. That is a repair you want a licensed crew on, with the water off at the street and a written scope in your hand. If the faucet is just dripping and the model is current, call us at (754) 551-2922 and describe what you see. We will tell you honestly whether it is a quick cartridge swap or a full fixture replacement.
FAQs

Most American Standard kitchen faucets last 8 – 12 years in Fort Lauderdale before the cartridge or diverter needs real attention. Hard mineral water shortens that to 5 – 8 years on models with spray heads. Call (754) 551-2922 and we will tell you if it is worth repairing or time to replace.
Yes, if the faucet body is sound and the model is current enough that OEM cartridges are still available. We repair first, replace second, and we will show you the part we took out so you know exactly what failed. Estimates are free.
A typical kitchen remodel runs 3 – 6 weeks from demo to final walkthrough. Cabinet lead time and countertop templating drive most of the schedule, and we give you a written arrival window before we start. Call (754) 551-2922 and we will walk you through a realistic timeline for your specific kitchen.
We keep common American Standard cartridges and spray heads on the truck for same-week repair calls, and we order OEM parts direct for anything we do not carry. If you are mid-leak, call (754) 551-2922 and we will tell you over the phone whether we have the part on hand.
