Atlas Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
If you have Atlas kitchen cabinetry or hardware that’s failing, we can source the replacement parts and handle the installation. A typical repair or component replacement in Fort Lauderdale runs $400 to $1,800 depending on what failed, and most cabinet hardware, hinge, or drawer-slide swaps are finished in one visit. You’ll usually notice the problem first as a door that won’t stay closed, a drawer that drags, or a soft-close mechanism that stopped catching.

Trevor Nash has seen enough Atlas kitchens across Fort Lauderdale to know the failure patterns before you describe them. The good news is that most Atlas parts are serviceable without a full cabinet replacement. The less-good news is that Florida humidity accelerates the failures you’d see anyway on any cabinet line, just faster here than in a drier climate.
A note before we go further: Penhallow Remodeling Fort Lauderdale is an independent contractor. We’re not affiliated with Atlas, but we work with their cabinetry every month and can source both OEM Atlas parts and quality equivalents.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas produces several cabinet lines, and the hardware differs between them. The most common in Fort Lauderdale homes are the Atlas Classic series, the Atlas Premier line, and the Atlas Frameless collection. Frameless cabinets, sometimes called European-style, use hidden hinges with a different mounting plate than the face-frame cabinets in the Classic series. If you order a hinge for a face-frame cabinet and install it on a frameless box, the door will sit proud of the cabinet by nearly a quarter inch and the soft-close won’t engage reliably.
Here’s how to identify what you have. Open a cabinet door and look at the hinge. If you see a cup drilled into the back of the door and the hinge mounts directly to the inside wall of the cabinet box, that’s a frameless hinge, typically a 35mm cup. If the hinge screws to a visible wood frame on the front edge of the cabinet box, that’s a face-frame hinge. Measure the overlay, which is how far the door edge overlaps the cabinet opening. Atlas face-frame hinges are commonly 1/2-inch overlay; Atlas frameless hinges are usually full-overlay. Getting the overlay wrong means the door won’t close flush. We can match this from a photo and a measurement, so don’t worry about memorizing the numbers.
For OEM versus aftermarket: Atlas OEM hinges and slides carry a limited lifetime warranty through Atlas, and they’re our default recommendation for soft-close mechanisms. For drawer slides, a quality aftermarket equivalent from Blum or Salice will frequently outlast the original and costs about 15% less. We stock both on the truck for common Atlas configurations.

Signs Your Atlas Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- A cabinet door won’t stay closed. The soft-close piston inside the hinge has worn out or the spring tension has failed. In humid Fort Lauderdale air, the internal lubricant breaks down faster and the piston loses its resistance. This is the number-one Atlas cabinet service call we get.
- A drawer drags or sticks halfway. The ball-bearing slide has either lost a bearing or the slide is bent from years of weight. Atlas drawer slides rated for 75 pounds will fail early if the drawer routinely carries cast-iron cookware or stacks of plates.
- A door hangs crooked and rubs the frame. The hinge mounting screws have stripped out of the particleboard cabinet box. South Florida humidity softens the substrate over time, and the screw holes enlarge. This fix needs a drilled-and-filled repair or a hinge plate relocation, not just a longer screw.
- The soft-close slams like it’s not there. On Atlas cabinets, this is usually a failed damper cartridge, not the entire hinge. Sometimes you can swap just the damper. When the hinge body itself is worn, replacing the full hinge is the honest recommendation.
- The shelf pins keep dropping. The holes in the cabinet sides have wallowed out, typically because the shelf carried more weight than the pins were designed for. This is a fast, inexpensive repair, but it’s also a warning sign that the cabinet box is aging.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Lauderdale, expect to pay $400 to $1,800 for an Atlas kitchen component repair or replacement, depending on what’s failing. A hinge or drawer-slide replacement on one or two cabinets lands between $400 and $700 with parts and labor. Replacing the hardware on every door and drawer in a standard 10-by-12-foot kitchen runs $1,100 to $1,800.
The price includes the parts, the trip, the labor, and a written line-item invoice before we start. If we quote you $900 and the job goes as expected, you pay $900. That’s the Kingswell Way and it’s been the standard since 2004. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the same hinge or slide fails inside a year, we return and fix it at no charge.
What drives the range up? The number of cabinets involved, whether you need OEM Atlas soft-close hinges (they run about 20% more than standard), and whether the cabinet box itself needs repair. If the screw holes are stripped, that’s a substrate repair, which adds time but not a lot of money.
DIY or Call Us?
Cabinet hardware is one of the safer things to attempt yourself, but there’s a line. You can safely tighten loose hinge screws, check the overlay with a tape measure, or snap a photo of the hinge so we can match it. What you shouldn’t do is attempt a drawer-slide replacement on an Atlas frameless cabinet without the correct mounting clips, or drill new holes into a cabinet box that’s already softened by humidity. Once the particleboard starts crumbling, every new hole you drill makes the next repair harder.
If you’ve already replaced a hinge and the door still doesn’t close right, stop there and call us. We’ve fixed more than a few DIY hinge jobs where the homeowner bought a metric hinge for an inch-pattern cabinet, and the door never sat flush afterward. Call (754) 551-2922 and describe what you’re seeing. Trevor will tell you what you need, what it costs, and whether it’s worth doing yourself.
FAQs

Atlas cabinet boxes and doors typically last 15 to 25 years in South Florida, but the hinges and drawer slides usually need replacement around the 8-to-12-year mark given the humidity. The cabinet boxes outlive the hardware. We replace hardware on cabinets that still have years of life left in them. Call (754) 551-2922 for an honest assessment of whether yours are worth saving.
Sometimes. If only the damper cartridge has failed, we can swap the cartridge and keep your existing hinge body. If the hinge is bent, the mounting plate is stripped, or the spring has lost tension, the full hinge should be replaced. We’ll show you the difference before we do the work, and the written quote covers only what’s needed.
A single-cabinet hinge or drawer-slide replacement takes under an hour on site. A full kitchen hardware replacement across every door and drawer is usually a half-day job, rarely longer. We give you an arrival window and we show up inside it.
We keep common Atlas face-frame and frameless hinges, drawer slides, and damper cartridges on the truck. For less common Atlas series or full-overlay frameless hardware, we source through our suppliers and typically have the part in hand within a few days. When you call, we’ll confirm what you need and tell you if it’s a same-day job or a parts-order job.
Most Atlas kitchen hardware repairs run $400 to $1,800 installed, depending on how many cabinets are involved and whether you need OEM soft-close hardware. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, so the number on day one is the number on the invoice. Call (754) 551-2922 for an exact quote.
If the same part fails inside 365 days, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s in writing on every job. No service call fee, no re-inspection fee, no fine print.
