IKO Fence Installation: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
IKO fence installation in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a full perimeter, depending on linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re pulling old posts or setting new ones. Most owners discover their fence has failed after a storm rolls through: a gate drags across pavers, a section leans toward the neighbor’s yard, or a post rocks when you grab it. We stock the hardware and fasteners needed to match IKO rail systems and can usually have a crew on site within a few days of your initial call to (754) 551-2922.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO manufactures a few vinyl and composite fence lines, and the installation details change between them. Their tongue-and-groove privacy panels use a routed bottom rail that slides into notched posts, while the semi-private and picket styles rely on bracketed rails that screw into post faces. The compatibility gotcha we see often: IKO’s post dimensions don’t always play nice with hardware-store generic brackets. Standard box-store posts run 4″×4″ or 5″×5″, but certain IKO series use a slightly undersized post sleeve that leaves a gap if you swap in a universal bracket. We measure the post profile and rail depth before ordering anything.
For most Fort Lauderdale homes, the decision is OEM IKO rail and panel stock versus a quality aftermarket equivalent. If the fence line is visible from the street and you care about the panel profile matching exactly, OEM is the call. If the failing section is along a property line hidden by hedges, a well-made aftermarket panel with the same color code and routed rail width will hold up fine and save you 15 – 20% on material. We source from the same trade distributors that supply local fence contractors, and we’ll show you the difference in writing before you commit.

Signs Your IKO Fence Installation Is Failing
- Posts leaning at the base. In Fort Lauderdale’s sandy soil, concrete footings that weren’t poured deep enough or wide enough shift after heavy rain. Once a post moves, the rails flex and the panels start to bind.
- Gates dragging or sticking. A gate that scrapes the driveway a month after install usually means the hinge side post was set without enough concrete or the gate frame wasn’t cross-blocked. South Florida humidity also swells wood-core composites, tightening clearances.
- Panels lifting out of the bottom rail. IKO tongue-and-groove boards sit in a routed channel. If a board pops upward, the channel is either cracked or the panel was never seated fully, leaving room for wind to catch it.
- Visible cracks around fastener holes. Over-tightened screws are the most common cause we repair. Vinyl expands and contracts in Florida heat; a screw driven flush at 80 degrees will crack the material when the surface hits 130 in July.
- Rusted hardware or stained rails. Galvanized steel fasteners corrode within a few years within a few miles of salt air. Stainless or coated fasteners cost more up front but are the only option we’ll spec east of Federal Highway.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full IKO fence installation in Fort Lauderdale runs $3,500 – $9,000. On the low end, you’re looking at roughly 100 – 120 linear feet of stock-height panel with one gate and clean post pull-outs. On the high end, you’re at 250+ linear feet, multiple gates, deep post excavation in root-heavy soil, and panel profiles that need to be special-ordered. Every quote we give is a written number: parts, labor, haul-away, and the concrete for setting posts are all in the line items. No allowances that “may go up once we dig.”
What drives price up: taller privacy height panels, matching an existing color that’s no longer in warehouse stock, and removing old concrete footings. What keeps it down: straight runs, single gate, no demo. Every installation carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If a post shifts or a gate sags within the year, we come back and fix it at no charge. Trevor Nash reviews every fence quote before it leaves our office.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do a few things before calling: mark leaning posts with chalk, measure the distance between posts so we know if the section is within standard IKO panel widths, and photograph the bottom rail channels where panels meet posts. What goes wrong for DIYers is the post-setting itself. Vinyl fence posts need to be plumb in both planes, set in concrete that cures for 24 hours before rails go on, and spaced to within an eighth of an inch or every panel after that one fights you. If you’re replacing a single panel in the middle of a run, the panel length has to be trimmed to fit the existing opening, and a bad cut wastes a $60 – $120 board.
If the job is one section and you’re comfortable with a post-hole digger, you’re probably fine. If it’s a gate, a corner post, or more than two panels, call us at (754) 551-2922 and we’ll give you a written number. Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs, then we’ll get it done.
FAQs

Vinyl IKO fence panels last 20 – 30 years in Fort Lauderdale, but the installation hardware usually fails first. Coated fasteners, proper post depth, and concrete with enough limestone aggregate get you to the 25-year mark. Cheap screws and shallow footings kill a fence in five to eight years near the coast.
Usually yes. A leaning post can be re-set, a cracked rail replaced, and a sagging gate re-hung without touching the surrounding panels. We repair individual sections daily. If more than a third of the posts are compromised, replacement is often cheaper than piecemeal repairs. Call (754) 551-2922 and we’ll tell you which side of that line your fence is on.
A typical 150-foot run with one gate takes two to three working days. Day one is post removal and setting new posts in concrete. We let the concrete cure overnight, then install rails and panels on day two. Large jobs with multiple gates or heavy demo can run four days. You’ll get the timeline in writing with your quote.
We carry common IKO rail brackets, post caps, coated fasteners, and touch-up color blocks on our service vehicles. Full panels and routed rails are ordered per job from the same distributors that supply Fort Lauderdale fence contractors. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone, so if the fence repair turns into a bigger exterior refresh, our crew can handle it on the same visit.
