PGT Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
PGT driveway and paver parts in Fort Lauderdale typically run $250 – $1,800 installed depending on whether we’re replacing a single cracked paver, re-sanding a shifting section, or rebuilding a failing edge restraint. We stock common PGT-compatible pavers and driveway components on our trucks, and most paver repairs are finished the same day. The way most Fort Lauderdale homeowners discover a problem is simple: a paver sinks after a heavy rain, a corner chips where the car tire catches it, or weeds start pushing through joints that used to sit tight.

We’re an independent Fort Lauderdale remodeling and exterior repair contractor. We’re not affiliated with PGT, but we work with their paver and driveway products regularly because they’re common across Broward County driveways, pool decks, and walkways. Trevor Nash has seen enough paver failures in this climate to know that most of them aren’t the paver’s fault. They’re what happens when the base underneath it wasn’t compacted right the first time.
Which PGT Models This Applies To

PGT manufactures paving stones and driveway pavers in several product lines, and the compatibility question usually comes down to two things: paver thickness and joint width. Most residential PGT driveways in Fort Lauderdale use 60mm-thick pavers (about 2⅜ inches), while pool decks and walkways often use 40mm. If you’re matching an existing paver, measure the thickness before you call us. A 60mm paver will not sit flush next to a 40mm one, and that height difference becomes a trip hazard and a place for water to pool.
The other gotcha we see often: older PGT paver runs installed before roughly 2015 may have used a different edge profile than current production. Even within the same color name, the chamfer (the slight bevel on the top edge) changed slightly over the years. For a single-paver replacement that’s barely noticeable, it doesn’t matter. For a full section rebuild, we’ll want to match the current production run so the surface wears evenly. We can identify most PGT pavers from a photo plus a thickness measurement, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a clean match or a near match before any work starts.
The decision between OEM PGT pavers and quality aftermarket equivalents usually comes down to two things. First, color match: PGT colors have drifted slightly over production years, and an aftermarket paver that claims to be “champagne” may be a shade off from PGT’s current run. Second, freeze-thaw rating: we’re in Fort Lauderdale, so freeze-thaw isn’t the concern it is up north. What matters here is UV fade resistance and salt tolerance, and PGT pavers hold their color well in the South Florida sun. If we’re replacing a small section and the color matters, OEM is worth the extra cost. If it’s a full driveway rebuild, we’ll price both and you decide.

Signs Your PGT Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- A paver sinks or dips below the surrounding surface. This almost always means the base material underneath has washed out or was never compacted properly. In Fort Lauderdale’s sandy soil, a poorly compacted base disappears faster than you’d think after a few heavy summer downpours.
- Weeds are coming up through the joints between pavers, no matter how often you pull them. The polymeric sand in the joints has broken down, and the joints have become a seed bed. Once the original joint sand is gone, the pavers start shifting laterally, which makes the problem worse.
- You can see a visible low spot or puddle that stays long after the rain stops. Water pooling on a paver driveway means the slope is gone, usually because the substrate has settled unevenly. That standing water works its way into the joints and accelerates the washout underneath.
- Edges of the driveway are spreading outward, with gaps opening up against the lawn or curb. The edge restraint (usually plastic or aluminum) has failed or was never installed. Without it, the whole driveway slowly creeps outward, especially where car tires load the edge repeatedly.
- Pavers are cracking or chipping along the tire path. A 60mm paver over a properly compacted base should handle passenger vehicle traffic for decades. Cracking along the tire line usually means there’s a void under that spot, and the paver is flexing until it snaps.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

What you’ll pay to repair or replace PGT driveway pavers in Fort Lauderdale depends on how much of the problem is on the surface and how much is underneath. Here’s the honest breakdown.
- Single paver replacement: $250 – $500, including removing the broken paver, matching the replacement, and re-sanding the joints around it.
- Section repair (re-level and re-sand a 50 – 100 sq ft area): $800 – $2,500, depending on whether we need to remove and reset the pavers or just lift, re-compact, and re-lay them.
- Full paver driveway installation: $7,000 – $18,000 for a typical Fort Lauderdale two-car driveway, including excavation, base, edge restraint, pavers, and joint sand. The range reflects paver choice, driveway size, and how much of the old base is salvageable.
- Driveway replacement (remove old surface, new base, new pavers): $5,000 – $14,000, with the final number driven by access, drainage requirements, and whether we’re reusing any existing material.
Every quote from us is a written number before any work starts. Not a range, not a ballpark, not a “we’ll see once we open it up.” The number on the quote is the number on the invoice. If we find something unexpected under the surface, we stop, call you, and put the change in writing before proceeding. The repair itself is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing on every job.
For the work itself, the parts and labor are separate line items on the quote. You’ll see the paver cost, the base material cost, the labor hours, and any disposal fees. We don’t hide costs in a lump sum.
DIY or Call Us?
Paver repair sits in an unusual spot: the surface work looks approachable, but the failure is almost never on the surface. You can safely check a few things yourself. Pull a sunken paver and look at what’s under it. If you see loose sand, the base is washed out. If you see solid compacted material, the problem is somewhere else. You can also check whether your edge restraint is intact by walking the perimeter and looking for gaps where the pavers meet the curb or lawn.
What we’d caution against is the DIY approach of buying a bag of paver sand, dumping it on the low spot, and calling it done. In Fort Lauderdale’s wet season, that sand washes out in weeks, and the pavers settle again. The real fix usually involves lifting the affected section, re-compacting the base (often with additional stone), and re-laying the pavers on a properly graded surface. A tamper from Home Depot can’t match the compaction a plate compactor gives you, and improperly compacted base is the reason most paver driveways fail in the first place. FAQs

A properly installed PGT driveway paver in Fort Lauderdale should last 25 – 30 years before the surface shows meaningful wear. What usually shortens that lifespan is not the paver itself but the base underneath it. In our sandy, high-rain climate, an uncompacted or poorly drained base can start failing within 5 years. The pavers will still look fine; they’ll just sink, shift, and open up at the joints. Call (754) 551-2922 if you’re seeing movement early.
In most cases, no. You can’t reliably glue a cracked concrete paver back together and expect it to hold traffic load in Fort Lauderdale’s heat and rain. The right repair is to remove the cracked paver and replace it with a matched unit, and we can usually do that for $250 – $500 including re-sanding the surrounding joints. We’ll tell you honestly if the crack is superficial and can be left alone. Estimates are free at (754) 551-2922.
A single-paver replacement is a same-day job, usually 1 – 2 hours. A section repair covering 50 – 100 square feet typically takes one full day, including lifting, re-compacting the base, re-laying the pavers, and re-sanding the joints. A full driveway replacement runs 3 – 5 working days depending on access and weather. We’ll give you a written schedule with the quote, and we show up in the window we gave.
We keep a small inventory of common PGT-compatible pavers in the colors we see most across Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods like Victoria Park, Rio Vista, and Coral Ridge. For less common colors or older production runs, we order directly from our supplier and usually have the material in hand within 3 – 5 business days. Send us a photo of your existing paver and we’ll tell you what we can match before you spend anything. Call (754) 551-2922.
